College Tour
In the Today's College Tour performance many issues were brought about such as being gay, physically inflicting pain, parents divorce, sex and love. I feel that every issues presented could be idenfiable to all students here at Lees-McRae. There were not many that I could relate to besides the one about love. I feel very blessed to have many people in my life that love me and that I love. I am sure there are many students that are facing some of the more intense issues but there are some great services around campus that can help out. In my psychology class we were introduced to the counseling service here that have professional counselors that can help. Also if you feel more comfortable with talking to people our age the is the group called C.A.T.E.A.R.S that can help as well. All in all the performance was not that interesting and I feel the information could be presented in a different matter but it was informative.
Liberal Arts
What is the value in a liberal arts education? Liberal Arts is a way of learning that is sometimes seen as "out of the box". It prepares you for the workforce in more then just all the book work you had to learn, such as communication skills, and responsibility.
For what kinds of jobs does a liberal arts education prepare you and what skills do you gain by participating in a liberal arts education? Liberal arts prepares you for all jobs! Due the skills that you learn from liberal arts they are used in every job out there today. Skills that you learn range from expanding your horizons to business communication.

Transcripts
This semester I plan to maintain my 3.5 gpa and hopefully increase it as well. My study habits last semester were not exactly how I wanted them to be. Due to this spring semester making the women's lacrosse team being in season this requires me to be on my "A" game with studying. I need utilize my free time and know when to study and when to go out with my friends. I am really looking forward to this semester as a time to take advantage of an agenda to keep my busy lacrosse schedule and jammed packed class schedule together.

Global Citizenship
I believe that being a global citizen means being a person who is aware of not only the country we live in but the world as a whole. I feel that this is important because being apart of the world as whole makes a more rounded person. What's wrong with being able to communicate with people from different countries? When a person is informed about the world around them they understand worldly issues.

Inspired: Tierney Cahill
Tierney Cahill message on the Wednesday before break with a real inspirtation. I've been told my whole life that I can be whatever I want to be when I grow up. Seein someone go from being a 6th grade teacher to a candidate for office is one big inspiration. I hope to become some type of inpiration to people some day. I look forward to achiving something in my life that is worth sharing with others. I think I have alot of courage when it comes to things except im not one to jump off the falls at Elk River Falls, so basically I stick to things a can achive without risking my life!
the economy these days.....
When asked if the economy is affecting me today the answer is yes! I've seen how the economy has already affecting my family and families around us. Just this past week I went to the mall and was surprised how few people were out shopping and then when I went out to eat with friends, the same thing. People are just not out spending money these days.
Im not to familiar with all the aspects of the economy, yet I do realize that its been a chain affect. I don't know where the money shortage began but you can see the effects all over the market.
Personally, I have decided to become a little more conservative with my money. I've realized that if something does happen I'd rather have a 20 dollar bill in my pocket rather then a new cd. I've just decided to spend money on things that are "needs" and not "wants".

Drinking at LMC
Drinking here at Lees-McRae seems to be a very hot topic. you have students you drink once a month, 1 a week, and even students who drink everyday. I believe that some students drink just to be social -- you are at a party and every one is drinking so one may have a drink just to fit in. I think that the drinking age should be lowered to 18 (but with my luck it will be lowered as soon as I turn 21). My mom tells me stories of how when she was younger the drinking age was 18, and there were a significant lower amount of alcohol related incidents. I don't have many facts or statics about why it should be lowered, but hey what 18 year old doesn't want to be able to buy their own alcohol.
